The Silver Line is expected to open by the end of 2013, which will require updates to the existing map. Based on the extensive customer feedback received during the last rail map revision, Metro has proposed the following updates to the map:

(1) Thinner rail lines to ensure readability, now that three rail lines will travel through downtown Washington with the start of Silver Line service;
(2) Station dots with thin extensions to accommodate all three lines;
(3) Removal of cross streets in the station titles;
(4) Consistent street abbreviations across the map; and
(5) New map legend that reflects the latest changes
